We Were On A Mission,

to get my eyes checked,

 so through the park,

a quick pose on the way,

then a walk to the George,

 where just opposite,

there was a Speck Savers, a quick test and it was found that I needed glasses for one eye, for long distance,

so glasses ordered we were off,

to meet Steve and Kai,

along with us for our breakfast,

in the Big Breakfast, which all looked like this, except for Kai who had a lasagna,

 then we were off,

 all smiles,

 to visit Kelsey Park,

we walked past the gate house,

 and into the park,

I had not been here for years,

and it was Diana's first trip here,

we made our way past the first small lake and waterfall,

both areas are a haven for birds,

which unfortunately Canadian geese have,

exploited to the determent of native spices, back in 2008, columnist Robert Hardman wrote; "Should there ever be a prize for Britain's most hated bird, then, surely, it would go to the Canada goose. If Canada geese were human, they would be lounging around all day doing nothing, claiming every welfare benefit in the book, driving their neighbors out of town and notching up ASBOs around the clock."

hopefully some enterprising soul will start selling them as an alternative for Christmas turkeys,

the herons were already claiming their places,

on one of the trees on the island,

we made our way across one of the bridges,

to get a better view of them,

another specie of goose was looking for food,

and having a stretch,

after he was joined by his mate,

this one was so tame,

as it came looking for food,

as well as ducks and geese there were a large number of seagulls,

looking towards the bridge at the far end of the main lake,

and back again,

as we crossed the bridge a flotilla of geese came looking for food,

on the other side of the bridge ducks were preening themselves,

these tree roots looked so nice covered in moss,

one of the happy squirrels that live in the park,

this one must have a had a close call with one of the many dogs that are loose in the park, a chunk of hair is missing from it's tail,

I am guessing that one of the reasons the squirrels look so well here is that local children seem to have come prepared with peanuts to feed them with,

a last look at the lake,

a quick pose by one of the enormous trees that grow in the park and after saying our goodbyes to Steve and Kai we were home,

in the afternoon we had a few games of cribbage, after our evening meal I was out,

walking through the park,

taking a few photographs,

of homes,

on the way, I meet up with Steve for a chat and a couple of beers in the Beckenham Cricket Club, after saying goodbye and arriving home, a quick nightcap and we were off to bed.
