I went upstairs to play with a few photographs,
arriving back downstairs it was time for a sherry,
and our starter,
liver pate on sourdough bread,
'Cheers!',
for our main course roast lamb, with lots of vegetables,
with gravy for Diana,
with out for myself,
and for dessert, a mini Magnum, oh the agony of choice!
decision made,
at the table between breaks I have continued to read Lanark by Alasdair Gray, in case you missed the description this is what I posted about the book some time ago, the back cover says, 'A Life In 4 Books', so I started with book 3, which is the first of the 4 books, 4 chapters in and I was quite enjoying the read, it was widely praised in the UK, and even received a good write up in the New York Times, the reviewer, John Crowley, finishes the review with this statement, 'it should be given every chance to reach those readers - for there will surely be some, and not all of them Scots - to whom it will be, for a short time or a lifetime, the one book they would not do without' praise indeed, any way I am now up to page 354 and starting book four,
after a small snack in the evening we settled down tonight's films, Diana chose both of them, the first Red Dragon, we have watched the film before, watching it again just reinforced what a masterful performance Ralph Fiennes played in the film,
we rounded the evening off with Contagion, the similarities between the film and real life striking, towards midnight when the film finished for us we were off to bed.
