We Were Both Up Early,

to visit the doctors,

as we left the park,

the skies were gray and overcast,

the reason for our visit was for Diana's first checkup, and for myself a flu jab, also to make an appointment to see the doctor for myself tomorrow,

visit to the doctors over as we were nearby,

we decided to take a walk around Kelsey Park, the ball in the tree in the distance,

is an almost round ball of mistletoe, (Viscum album), a parasitic plant,

 we started our walk,

as a couple of curious ducks watched us walk by,

Diana had brought some brown bread for them, so over the more adventurous male came,

eating a few piece of bread,

one of the waterfalls that had seen better days,

heron island,

now with 5 or 6 herons in residence,

 then it was squirrel time,

 as one,

then two came looking for some peanuts,

I think he liked them,

 at the water's edge,

our presence had not gone unnoticed,

as coots, (Fulica atra), scrambled for food,

on to the next squirrel feeding station,

each group of squirrels seem to have one area as first one,

 then two found Diana,

and ever more adventurous they were becoming,

 and arriving from all sides,

 it was all great fun,

by now were at the far end of the park,

rounding the end of it these daffodils should put on a good show in the next few weeks,

no sooner had we walked through into the no dogs area, than the first of the squirrels appeared,

 in the trees,

 a couple of parakeets,

the last time we were here this was a mass of wild birds,

today hardly a feather to be seen,

a new arrival, a swan, (Cygnus olor),

looking across at the herons on the island,

and looking back Diana was still feeding the birds and squirrels,

whilst the swans kept pace with me,

by now Diana was running out of peanuts for the squirrels,

but they did not know that,

 and at this point,

 there were lots of them,

Diana was being stalked from all sides,

 at one count,

there were six of them plus one hiding behind Diana!

one of the Egyptian goose looked by,

as we left the park I noticed this little chap,

I do not know what bird it was, but he was certainly active,

a last look at the park,

then we made a move for home past the church,

after our evening meal we settled down for a number of episodes of Frontier, each episode was so good we just had to watch another until the midnight hour approached, as an aside for the next few days we will only be making one post a day, as we have a few early starts, and with that we were off to bed.
