A Mine,

but why does it open roughly 65 meters above sea level?

the mine of Porto Flavia, is on the promontory that dominates Masua, in the territory of Iglesias, built between 1922 and 1924, is now abandoned and made into a museum,

the reason for the opening of the 600 meter long tunnel so high up, was that ships could be loaded with movable arm to distribute load, saving costs on moving mined lead and zinc,

today it offers great views of the Pan di Zucchero sea stack, a 132-metre natural monument shaped over time, for more about the mine have a look here, reading the blurb it seems a great place to visit, and yes we would like to go!
