An Image Seen By Countless Millions,

and we were just two of the countless millions that have seen the real image,

all images courtesy of Callaway Arts and Entertainment and Scripta Maneant, we visited the Vatican City in 2016, as it happens we would have taken a photograph of the ceiling in Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel, but taking any photograph of the ceiling was strictly forbidden, guards were everywhere the moment a mobile telephone was produced you told not to take photographs, so it is nice to see that a book as been produced with these stunning images,

looking up 44 feet you can never see the fine detail, but The Sistine Chapel, a massive three-volume tome published by Callaway Arts and Entertainment and Italy’s Scripta Maneant, is dedicated to the details and presents up-close 1:1 scale images of the artist’s, painting in a limited-edition book, will change all of that,

over the course of 65 nights, two photographers ascended a 33-foot scaffolding to access close views of the ceiling,

the structure was assembled and disassembled every evening to allow tourists to visit during the day,

approximately 270,000 high-resolution images captured the incredible characteristics of movement, contrast, and expression that cannot be seen from ground level,

the books are printed in Italian and English and limited to 1999 copies by the Vatican, who also stipulated there will be no reprints,

and there are just a few English copies left,

so you had better be quick!

the 20-pound set includes additional masterpieces by Michelangelo, Botticelli, and other Renaissance artists, so if you want to see close ups of the ceiling as you are not allowed to take photographs yourself, just give Callaway Arts and Entertainment and Italy’s Scripta Maneant, $22,000 and the book will be yours!
