Sunday Has Rolled Around Again,

the time just flies past,

and it was now time for a read and a sherry, no change there then!

chicken soup for our starter,

followed by roast beef,

sans gravy for myself,

'Cheers!',

for dessert a sherry trifle,

eyes down and tuck in!

in the afternoon we watched The Well Digger's Daughter, a film with a French soundtrack but subtitled in English, what a treat it was, the countryside around Salon de Provence where the story takes place beautifully filmed, the music recorded by Enrico Caruso

singing Core 'ngratom Caruso could not have been chosen better with it setting the sound line of the period, the story itself takes place in the late 1930's, a casual meeting by the well diggers daughter and a local shopkeepers son results in an affair, but almost before it has begun the son is called to war with the daughter left with the consequences, touchingly filmed with great performances all round, we both will be watching another couple of films directed by or starring Daniel Auteuil, titled Jean de Florette and Manon des sources, all three are first class entertainment,

we followed that with a real shocker, it was that bad, a Western filmed in the UK! A Fistful of Lead, the first clue that it was a UK Western was when some riders rode past a gorse bush! the bush is native to central and western Europe and the British Isles, although introduced in the 1800s the common gorse only established outside cultivations in the 1900s, anyway after 17 minutes I said enough, the acting just not right, but Diana thought that it might get better, 20 minutes later we were putting a disc in the player,

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, we had watched the film before, it was great fun watching it again, especially the performance of  Deep Roy who play the Oomph Loompas, and who at 64 years old is still going strong, we rounded off the evening with a Lewis before we were off to bed.
