With Halloween Drawing Ever Closer,

I thought I might mention,

image stephenking.fandom.com, the Wendigo, he is the stuff of nightmares, little known outside of Canada or the northern part of America, but if you live there you will of heard of him, the giant monster of the pine forests that "eats people, especially children", over the centuries, there have been multiple versions of the Wendigo. But how did the legend begin? According to the Ojibwe People's Dictionary, the Wendigo legend began as a towering "winter cannibal monster" who was always hungry for human flesh. The creature was a metaphor for ice, hunger, cold, death, despondence, and desperation, it is believed that those who put their survival needs over others, and are tempted to, or even do, eat human flesh, can "go wendigo." and here is a film recommendation to go with the Wendigo theme,

Ravenous, set in the early pioneer days of the west, a stranger who has spent three months lost in the mountains arrives at the fort, the stranger, played superbly well by Robert Carlyle steals the show, which descends into murder and cannibalism, as the fort they are staying and the subsequent march has a viper in it's party, also worth a mention is the great atmospheric music that played in the movie, in case you have forgotten Halloween will be Monday, October 31, 2022. That means "Halloweekend" the popular term coined for the Saturday and Sunday closest to the Holiday in which costume, candy, and grog enthusiasts can all have fun, I will stick with the grog!
