Diana's Day Off,

so we are out for the day,

I should say I am only making one post today, as usual I took too many photographs, so many I have had to split the post into 2 parts, so glad rags on,

it looked like a nice day,

and a surprise, on Wednesday I walked past here, and not a mushroom in sight,

and in no time at all, here they are,

unbelievable, they had appeared so quickly, we caught the number 54 bus,

as we passed Peter Pan's pool the rain started, so that put the stop on taking photographs,

we arrived at Blackheath village,

and had a look at the florists, getting ready for Halloween with these kalanchoe pumpkins,

on the other side of the doorway,

a nice display of kalanchoe,

we made our way through the village,

passing one of Diana's favourite shops, Oliver Bonas,

Diana did not go inside, but this is where we were heading, the greengrocers,

for these, chestnuts,

so it was down to me,

to pick the best,

that should do nicely,

also on display some squashes, individually,

or by the box,

then it started to rain,

we passed the bookshop,

and made our way across a sunny, rainy heath,

there in the distance,

a rainbow across the funfair,

is there a pot of gold in sight?

we walked towards the fair,

the sky clearing as the rain stopped,

nearing the fair the first ride,

anyone for,

the crocodile express?

or a ride with Donald Duck,

the dodgems, that's more like it!

and no fair would be complete without a helter-skelter and a Ferris wheel,

if you are in the area, this is all you need to know,

we were nearing Greenwich park,

and soon passing the gate house,

we walked along the tree lined avenue,

stopping for a pose of course!

that is where we are heading,

stopping along the way,

in the spring this avenue of trees will be in full bloom, they are all cherry trees,

onwards,

across the road,

time for a coffee,

so into the Pavilion café,

a coffee and cake for Diana, just a coffee for myself,

it was so warm in there it was coats off,

back outside and past the observatory,

to the viewing point,

looking down on the National Maritime Museum,

to the right, the power station, a pity it is not in use now! and the O2,

a pose by the clock,

we started downhill,

and were then treated to another rainbow,

another pot of gold perhaps?

we were lucky 2 rainbows in a day,

we made our way to the park exit,

which looked like it had been gilded recently,

the gold highlights looking splendid in the sun,

Diana popped into the big Olive Bonas in the square,

next into the covered market,

where we had a look at the stalls there,

I also bumped into Peter Thorne, who we had meet on a previous visit, we chatted about a photograph technique I am trying to master,

then Diana had a great idea, a pint,

at the pub that was used as a backdrop in Now You See Me II, a film we both enjoyed by the way,

we carried on looking at the stalls,

selling both new and old goods,

as well as handicrafts,

like this shoe shop,

selling these shoes,

very patriotic!

we continued looking at the stalls,

before walking to the exit,

another one of the almost de rigueur Citroen food vans,

normally there is also a bright red one selling Chinese food, but not today,

passing the restaurant we had eaten in on a previous visit,

we arrived at the Cutty Sark,

in the rigging,

some one was having a lesson in seamanship,

back to earth, the roundabout,

with its gayly painted horses,

hello Violet!

the pedestrian tunnel under the river Thames,

we passed the bow of the Cutty Sark,

and there she is,

we waited on the jetty for our Uber boat,

the business skyline in the distance,

and here is our water taxi,

turning before docking,

as it happens prices had risen since our last visit, but as they say, "nothing stays the same forever!" I am stopping this part of the post here, if you would like to se the rest of our day, please click the 'Older Posts' button at the bottom right of the page.
