Day 1 Part 2,

we now entered a section devoted to the crew,

there was a audio/visual show to look at,

and descriptions,

of how people at the time mixed,

or did not,

The Evil May-Day, apprentices attacking the Ludgate on 1 May 1517; supplement to the "London Apprentice". 1852, wood-engraving copyright British Museum,

the crew were indeed really diverse,

as can be seen from these labels,

with more stories still to be told,

out into the gift shop,

and past the Victory,

for a pose,

as we continued to walk past the bow,

dead center,

ancient and in the background a modern fighting ship,

cannons never to speak in anger again,

the statues to the men of Portsmouth,

I remember many times at Earls Court,

we would go to watch the Royal Tournament,

it was such a shame it had to stop when it did,

I was looking forward to going into the military antiques store that was here,

but it had closed, in its place,

an Arthur Beale store,

I have to say the items for sale,

all looked first class,

another fine example of boat building,

the inside,

in one of the windows a display of the Victory,

a couple of cannons,

looking for a new home,

we made our way to the entrance,

the Spinnaker in the distance,

sunset in an hour or so behind the Warrior,

past the chain and anchor,

and upstairs for a wash and brush up,

the Spinnaker from our bedroom window putting on a good show,

next into the hotel main entrance,

and out,

of the hotel,

past pubs and restaurants,

we made our way into town,

the light show finished,

past the Chinese,

and under the railway tracks to Gunwharf Quays,

which looked pretty deserted,

hardly a soul there,

Diana just had to do some window shopping,

onward towards the restaurants,

the light show now stopped,

and here we were,

looking down still not many people about,

inside,

a glass of red,

coke for Diana, to go with her burger and chips,

for myself,

chilli con carne,

meal over,

we went outside,

just as the light show started,

and nice it looked too,

I read up a little about the tower,

there were 3 designs,

this one received 60% of the vote of the public in Portsmouth that were eligible to vote,

we started to make our way back,

still not many people about, but there it is,

through the shops,

and tunnel,

back to the hotel for a nightcap,

'Cheers!', we watched a New Tricks, then for us we were off to bed.
