Day 4 And On Our Way Home,

we checked out of the hotel,

and headed off for our breakfast, up there!

under the railway tracks,

and through the shopping center,

we were soon 105 meters up,

and looking over Portsmouth,

and the Warrior,

in the center of the photograph the Victory and next to it the Mary Rose covered exhibition,

looking directly down the passenger ferry port that we used to cross to the island,

looking at one of the marinas,

a Royal Navy ship starts to manoeuvre,

before heading into the Solent,

on this side of the harbour the Isle of Wight car ferry docks,

the Royal Navy ship getting underway,

and did you notice it in one of the earlier photographs? the Prince of Wales has been joined by its sister ship, H.M.S. Queen Elizbeth,

our breakfast arrived, Diana being Mum pouring the tea,

time for a quick pose,

before tucking in, on the bottom tray, bacon and sausage rolls,

going down well with a cup of tea,

on the middle tray scones, fresh Cornish cream and a selection of strawberries and raspberries,

on the top a selection of cakes and chocolate,

time for a pose,

included in the meal was a really nicely printed souvenir guide book,

the sun had now come out, so I took a few more photographs, one of the Warrior,

Victory and Mary Rose,

a few other Royal Navy ships moored in harbour,

and the sisters,

then back to continue our breakfast,

next looking inland,

and down a Chinese New Years dance with a dragon was taking place, which brought back so many memories of our stay in Thailand, where we would watch the New Year dancers in the Friendship car park, this just one of the years we were there,

looking across the railway station,

breakfast finished, the next stop the roof garden,

time for a pose,

or two,

and one from Diana,

down a floor and it scary dairy time, well for me!

there is a glass panel in the floor,

which you can walk over,

it is a long way down!

but that did not put Diana off,

for myself it was all I could do not to fall over,

and for myself,

no way!

it gives me the heebie-jeebies just watching the video!

we made our way back down a few floors to the lift,

and I was so happy to be back on terra firma

I told them not to park our boat here,

as we were gong to take the train, I often say, "why does this happen to us", well here it is again, we arrived on time for our train to East Croydon, as they only run once an hour both on the way down and back up again, so one tram to Croydon then one train to Portsmouth on the way down, but, and a big but, on the way back, one train to Horsham, change, one more train to Clapham Common, change, one more train to East Croydon and then the tram, it took more than a few hours, evidently track repairs were taking place this afternoon, but why does it always seem to be the day this sort of thing happens on the day we travel!

it was all too much for Diana,

but we finally arrived at East Croydon,

for the tram home to Beckenham, arriving in town I walked home with the Billingham whilst Diana bought a few bits and pieces for our evening meal in Marks & Spencer's,

no sooner back, as by now it was quite late, it was time to tuck into a bowl of moules mariniere,

'Cheers!',

for our main course baked salmon with coleslaw and vegetables,

followed by,

a iced cream slice with fresh cream, in the evening we watched a couple of Midsomer Murders on the lap top before we were off to bed.
