A Change Of Plan For Today,

Diana was asked to come into work on Sunday,

and to take today off, which was great as it was a bright sunny day,

so we were off, Diana dropping a parcel at the post bin at the station,

where looking over the car park it was still sunny,

I popped another parcel into a shop which has a different collection service, we decided to meet up here at the number 54 bus stop by the church,

and her she comes, our day went down hill from there, we arrived at 11.10, the first number 54 stopping short of where we had to catch the second bus to Greenwich, at 12.05 the next number 54 arrived, nearly an hour wait for what should be a once every 15 minute service!

the bus as you might expect was packed,

we passed Peter Pan's Pool, I jokingly said it only seemed like I had done this yesterday! luckily our next bus, a 199 was running as normal,

and here we are in Greenwich,

making our way towards the heart,

to the side entrance to the market,

we made our way through the alley,

and past the famous pub that appeared in Now You See Me 2,

we started looking at the stalls,

lots with jewellery,

that Diana liked,

a tie stall for myself,

on to an antique stall,

and one specialising in militaria, the gas mask interested me,

not because of the mask, but the canvas case it came in, one exactly the same was my satchel to take my books into and out of school, like a lot of kids family's it was cheaper than a leather brief case,

a event was going to take place here,

fresh fruit juices available here,

we came out of and then went back into the market,

not particularly good photographs of the art of paper cutting because of the reflections,

so I took a couple of them,

the sign says it all, as it happens in November 2021 they had a similar cutting, at £1,200

I remember as a kid when staying with my grandparents in the 1950s, during school holidays going to the Woolwich ferry at the side of which there were steps leading down to the beach, which was exposed at low tide where I would collect clay pipes like these at the bottom of the picture,

lots for the DIY enthusiast here,

and a nice pair of earrings for Diana,

and if you want to make a fashion statement,

how about a pair of shoes like these? the detail is remarkable,

there were stalls with kids collectables as well,

we made our way out of the market past one of the antique shops,

and started looking for somewhere to have our late lunch,

we decided here, The Kings Arms,

a table for two in the rear area,

coke for Diana, larger and lime for myself,

'Cheers!',

a look at the garden,

another 'Chees!', as our meals arrived, fish and chips for Diana,

a 'Cheers!', from Diana,

all set,

to tuck into a steak and ale pie with mash and a huge slice of cabbage for myself,

a quick pose at the bar on our way out,

and I just had too, the meal which was excellent came to £47.00,

we started our walk to the Cutty Sark,

the Navel College on our right,

the Cutty Sark now in front of us,

the stern of the ship,

as it happens in May 2016 we actually went inside, our trip is here if you wish to see inside the vessel,

on the other side a small food market,

paella anyone?

we neared the front of the ship,

and there she is,

the dome is a public walkway under the River Thames,

the dome the other side of the river is where it surfaces,

looking back at the jetty for boats into London,

and a pose of course!

blue skies as we looked downriver,

the dome and the Cutty Sark,

we started making our way to the 199 bus stop to take us to Lewisham,

Diana popped into Marks & Spencer's to buy Duncan's Garibaldi biscuits, but no luck, out of stock,

she soon joined me,

as we passed the fish and chip shop that gives snowflakes nightmares! Jack the Chipper, yes the pathetic fools complained that the reference to Jack the Ripper gave them nightmares, thank goodness none of the fools visit the Bloody Tower in the Tower of London!

looking back to the church,

we stopped by the flower seller at the bus stop,

and were soon looking at produce for sale in Lewisham market,

we were actually looking of cob nuts, as it happens plenty of coconuts,

and hats,

and there they were, at the far end of the queue, £3.00 later and I was on my way,

nuts purchased Diana had a look in H & M,

but nothing took her fancy, we then had another nightmare journey home, we again waited an age for a number 54 bus, when it arrived it was so full we could not get on, so we walked to the bus stop away from Lewisham, eventually two number 54 buses appeared, we got on one with no problems, except, 5 stops later it was announced we would all have to get off at Catford garage as the bus was terminating there! what a way to run a service! so off of the bus to wait for the next one, as it happens we most probably spent more time queueing for the number 54 bus than we did looking around Greenwich, and the tree hugging loony lefties say take the bus not your car, they live in cloud cuckoo land and have never used the bus service!

arriving home it was a couple of quiz shows before a couple from Midsomer Murderer, Diana then made a move to bed, tomorrow another early start, I should mention that I am only making one post today, as I have to hand in my sample to the surgery this morning, back to the evening, for myself I watched The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die, which was actually quite good, and as it happens some of it was based on happenings in history, but of course it is a mistake to believe Hollywood films when it comes to history, look no further than the absolute howler that Braveheart is when it comes to historical facts, as for timing, Braveheart's in the film love affair was not with a woman, but a 9 year old child if you look chronology of real life! after 7 Kings I too was off to bed.
