this part with music in the background,
the sign says it all, as music that apparently helps the flowers grow was played in the background,
at the first part of this display,
there was a huge swath of white flowers,
then reverting to a mixture of colours,
stretching into the distance,
we continued our walk,
also in this section the flowers were taller,
every so often a sunflower growing amongst them,
looking back towards the Walkie-Talkie building,
and forwards towards Tower Bridge,
Diana admiring the blooms,
a little about the selection of plants,
this was actually a living arch, as indeed were some of the edges of the beds,
one of the sunflowers was putting on a good show, although not the usual yellow type we are so used to,
also taller than most,
the occasional thistle,
also putting on a good show,
Diana almost lost in the taller beds,
time for a pose,
or two, the edges of the beds here not 'living' but made of intertwined branches, in the distance we could see a number of insects catching the suns rays and reflecting the sun,
as we walked closer,
into the swarm,
we could make out the individual insects,
at first dragonflies,
lots of them,
then bees,
butterflies,
and more bees,
we came to the end of the garden,
and started on the walk way out,
and on to the embankment,
and started our walk to the other side of the river,
I just had to!
we stopped on the bridge,
and noticed these,
love locks,
it was the same on one of the bridges in Paris, loving couples would write their names on the padlock attach it to the bridge and throw away the key, locking their love forever, and yes we did add a love lock to the bridge when we were in Paris, way back in December 2016!
and here it is,
as the pleasure craft tuned everyone onboard waved at walkers on the bridge,
and naturally we waved back,
a slightly different way to see the River Thames from river level, paddle up in a kayak,
a quick pose,
or two,
or three,
or four,
meanwhile the kayakers were passing the tower,
in the background the Walkie-Talkie,
on the way back we found some more,
chimps, monkeys, apes, gorillas and orangutan bronze statues,
four so far,
each one with a legend explaining the statue, as it happens all of this walking was giving us a thirst and a appetite, we did not have breakfast before we left,
so into the Horniman for a coke for Diana, a larger and lime for myself, as it happens on our many trips to London we have often stopped there for a drink and sometimes a meal,
'Cheers!',
our meal arrived, cheese burger with bacon for Diana, haddock and chips for myself, the bill came to £40.00, which considering we were sat by the river seemed fair, but I have to say it seems like cod and chips is now a thing of the past due to the cost of the fish, a shame but there it is, Diana looked up the time of our train back to Beckenham, we took a leisurely walk back to London Bridge station for the 14.31, and there on the big board it was, you got there before me,
the only train,
that was cancelled! what is it with me and things like this? on to plan 'B' catch a train to New Beckenham and have a longer walk home,
which is exactly what we did,
it had been a glorious day, the weather could not have been better, bright sunshine all day long, in the afternoon I made a start on the blog resizing the photographs, in the early evening a nice surprise, Steve called round to drop off a punnet of cherries he and Kai had picked for us, we all had a coffee and a chat, after he left we watched a couple of Antique Road shows, followed by a New Tricks and a Silent Witness before we were off to bed.
