so glad rags on,
and we were out,
and soon on the top deck at the front of a number 54 bus, passing the Foxgrove Lodge entrance to the park,
we were heading for Lewisham,
time for a selfie,
we entered Catford and passed the gayly painted pub on the right,
and looked that the never ending rebuild when I had a flash of déjà vu, then realised I had been here before, yesterday when I visited Duncan! in Lewisham we then caught a 129 to Trafalgar Road, we had a cunning plan, we would have our lunch in the Trafalgar Tavern and walk back to Greenwich and have a look at the covered market,
we could see the Trafalgar in the distance,
the bunting easy to see,
Union Jacks and signal flags filling the air,
not only at the front,
but along the pathway,
that follows the river at the side of the pub,
as well as flags,
Union Jack umbrellas were everywhere,
decisions, decisions, sit inside or outside?
inside it was then,
we found a table with a view of the river,
we sat in the Duncan bar,
'Cheers!',
and one more on one of the fire place seats,
the menu with a nice painting show the tavern,
we had never seen one of the paddle steamers moving on the River Thames before, until now, although I have to say the paddles seemed to be for show only,
our meal arrived,
not cod, but haddock and chips, only a few weeks ago I had read that cod had become so expensive that restaurants were changing to haddock and chips, and here is the proof,
'Cheers!',
a selfie from Diana on her telephone,
our meal over we made a move to the embankment, the bill came to £40.00,
we started our walk to the Cutty Sark,
looking at one of the barges moored in the river,
and one sailing up stream,
a pose from myself,
and one from Diana, the Trafalgar in the distance,
the sailing barge moving a tad faster than us,
well I just had to!
the O2 in the distance,
now looking up river,
it was time for Diana to pose,
we stopped as the gates were open,
for a photograph of Queen's House, this was the closest I could zoom into it,
Diana took this photograph of myself,
as I was taking this one of where we had just been,
we arrived at the Cutty Sark, regular readers of our blog will know that we have been here many times before,
the entrance to the pedestrian walk way under the river,
we did not go inside today,
many years ago the Gipsy Moth was actually on display next to the Cutty Sark,
we crossed the road to the central island of the one way system,
and made our way into the covered market,
only one Citroen food van here today,
and only half the number of stalls as this was not a market day,
but still interesting to look around,
signs for a man cave, or in my case man attic!
there were a few clothes stalls here as well,
and no visit to Greenwich would be complete without a look inside of Oliver Bonas, we caught a 129 back to Lewisham,
and made our way to the 54 bus stop,
Ah!
past the Foxgrove Lodge,
we made our way home for a coffee and watched a couple of early episodes of Silent Witness on the BBC player, as well a couple of quiz shows and a New Tricks, I am only making one post again today as it is Diana day off, so we are up early for a drive, and with that we were off to bed.
