One Thing I Have Never Understood In The UK,

why on earth do people drink bottled water?

photograph by Cole Saladino for Thrillist, lets give you a choice, would you rather drink a product that is tested daily, or would you prefer a product that is tested once a month? if you would prefer drinking a product that is only tested once a month, drink bottled water! I can understand people in hard water areas putting tap water through a filter to remove the hardness, but I can not understand the huge cost of transporting water hundreds of miles in bottles in lorries, or the cost of the plastic bottles and their disposal, when UK tap water is perfectly safe, and of course there is the safty feature of drinking from plastic bottles, remember to check the sell by date on the bottles, why? because the water does not go off, but the plastic does! if the water bottles have not been stored properly, heat, light, and other factors can cause problems in bottled water over time, you can read about the factors that might make your bottled water unsafe at ScienceAlert, from the article:

"Every bottle sheds chemicals a little bit, just by virtue of being in contact with water. Some of these chemicals are more toxic than others, such as antimony, a chemical that can damage your stomach and intestines, and phthalate esters, which can disrupt your endocrine system, hot water, you may remember from high school chemistry class, can dissolve larger amounts of chemicals than room-temperature water, research shows PET bottles heated past 86 degrees Fahrenheit can release an excessive amount of phthalate esters, bottles heated past 140 degrees Fahrenheit can release dangerous levels of antimony"

for clarification 86 degrees Fahrenheit = 30 degrees Celsius, 140 degrees Fahrenheit = 60 degrees Celsius,

so can you guarantee the bottle of water you are drinking has not been left in the hot sun for a few hours or stored in a overheated warehouse for a few days? No thought not, and amazingly you are going to drink it!
