He calculated that Thomas could save 70 seconds over a 40-mile time trial just by shaving! More hairy cyclists were recruited to confirm the results, in the article it goes on to say that research showed that Laurent Fignon would have won the 1989 Tour de France if he had only cut his ponytail, I guess that is why cyclists in racing events do not grow beards, now here is a question, do lady cyclist shave their legs when racing? in any event a interesting article from a sport that I have no interest in.
