a few days ago a festival took place in central
Osaka, Japan,
photograph screenshot, Tanabata (七夕), also known as the "star festival", takes place on the 7th day of the 7th month of the year, when, according to a Chinese legend, the two stars Altair and Vega, which are usually separated from each other by the Milky Way, are able to meet,
video Johnny_suputama, the Okawa River, which runs through
central Osaka, was lit up on Friday with 40,000 LED lights floating down the
river as they evoked the celestial milky way, the event was organized by the Amanogawa Project,
which has been staging similar events for over 10 years, but this year marked the first time in 4
years since covid restrictions were lifted and they were able to temporarily
transform a river into the milky way, I should also mention that if you are lucky enough to be in Japan, you can take an hour and 40 minute journey from
Tokyo, because usually in the month of August in Sendai City, the largest Tanabata
festival takes place there, hanging from bamboo poles, dozens of colourful
streamers brighten the streets and there’s a remarkable firework display to
initiate the festival, in the small neighbourhood of Asagaya, Tokyo, you can find large
paper-mache sculptures of anime favourites, hello kitty and even Disney
characters, in Aichi prefecture, a grand parade is held in the month of August
where the streets are filled with amazing decorations, music and dance
performances, so you mighty have missed celestial milky way in the the Okawa River, but it will be a few months before these other festivals are here, for more about the festivals have a look here.
