Today The Striking Rail Unions Won,

the drivers were on strike,

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, the good news was that the trains would be running on Wednesday when I visit Duncan, only the ticket office staff would be on strike on Wednesday, so on Monday I went to the station with Diana, only to find that as there were no trains the ticket office staff although they should have been working, decided to close the station, and because of my Senior Travelcard I could not buy a ticket using the machine, the last time this happened it was only a one day strike I drove, it was a horrible journey, and took longer than if I had travelled by train as everyone else took to the roads as well, this week the strike was week long, already on Monday the news reports were full of traffic warnings as the roads were so clogged, the strikers had won, no visit to Duncan this week, next Monday I will again try to buy tickets for the rest of the month to visit him every week, the sad thing about this and many other strikes is that it effects people like Duncan and myself, the people who the strikers want to effect have their own ministerial cars and drivers, and are not effected at all, oh well there it is, rail strikers 1 - Stan/Duncan 0, if you are wondering what the strikers want, have a look at the UK's largest circulating paid for newspaper, free give away newspapers are not included, back to Wednesday, Diana was at work I had a quiet day, in the afternoon Diana returned home from work so we had a meal together in the evening, first a read and a sherry,

followed by a starter of spring rolls,

for our main course, baked salmon with asparagus in blankets and mashed potatoes,

eyes down and tuck in!

for dessert a real treat,

home made crème brûlée, which was delicious, after our meal it was feet up for a Lewis, followed by a New Tricks before we were off to bed.
