I Am Only Making One Post Today,

as we were out for the day with Steve and Kai,

and as usual took way too many photographs, so glad rags on,

we started out walk out of the park past the snail mail box, into a lovely warm day, blue skies, the birds were singing, and we had a great day planned,

past the road works at the entrance to the park,

the pavement in front of Foxgrove Lodge getting a make over,

on the other side of the road the pavement completed,

on to the train at Beckenham Junction,

one stop later at Kent House Steve and Kai joined us,

on to the tube, Victoria to South Kensington, then a change of tube line to Hounslow Central,

and here we were,

under the flight path of jets to Heathrow,

and this is what we were going to visit,

a Filipino Barrio Festival, celebrating the Philippine's 126 year of independence,

into the park, one of the first things that I saw was,

this unusual tree, I have no idea what it is but looked so different from 'normal' trees,

in to the entrance to the festival, we had already bought tickets,

around the outside of the field, lots of stalls, looking to the right,

across,

slightly to the left,

a bit more,

then completely to the left,

I started looking at the foods on offer,

Diana will be in her element here,

all of the foods that she likes so much,

Kai and Diana passed me,

I carried on looking,

then caught up Diana,

as she was looking at these,

one to go!

every minute or so,

a jet passed by,

great for plane spotters, not sure about the residents though!

so many stalls to look at,

the field starting to fill up,

there was a stage for later in the day when cultural dances will start,

the boy and girl in blue,

I started looking at the fun fair,

dodgems,

not sure what this one was,

now this is so me, as it says, 'everyone a winner!', it is just like being at a woke sports contest!

there were a few rides, not yet going as we were quite early,

and there it was, my prayers answered! bacon, sausages, beef burgers and chips as well as tea and coffee, well that was me set for my breakfast/lunch!

doughnuts and slushies next door,

rides for the kids,

as well as try your luck prize stalls,

the Magic Kingdom looked really impressive,

as did the Ghost Train,

the carriages,

looked quite fearsome!

the girls favorite, the Waltzer, which they both vowed never to go on again, after the Crystal Palace 'unpleasantness',

continuing around the outside perimeter, this section did not have any food but offered services to the Filipino community,

such as jobs in the UK carriers to take personal belongings to or from the Philippines, insurance, banking, you get the idea,

Steve and Kai had thought ahead and brought a mat to sit on,

still not many people here, but as I mentioned we were early,

time to eat, my go to food when out and about,

a bacon bun with lashings of onions and mug of tea, one of the charming ladies who were on the stall took a photograph of me tucking into breakfast, many thanks indeed!

meanwhile these are photographs from Diana's telephone as she and Kai looked for lunch,

I could never eat one of these, a balut, so what is a balut? in case you do not know it is a fertilized developing egg embryo that is boiled or steamed and eaten from the shell. It is commonly sold as street food most notably in the Philippines, Cambodia and Vietnam, the term comes from the Filipino language, the length of incubation before the egg is cooked is a matter of local preference, but generally ranges between 14 and 21 days, so what does this delicacy look like when the shell is removed?

photograph Taste Winchester History Food Tours, the photograph was found here, enjoy!

Diana carried on looking at the food stalls,

lots of sausages,

noodles,

and rice,

Diana and Kai were spoilt for choice,

but eventually decisions were made,

whilst buying food the girls spied me coming back from my bacon roll,

the girls arrived back with these,

time to start opening the food containers,

and tuck in,

and they did,

we next had a visit form Micky Mouse,

who played to the people sat on the grass,

Minnie was here as well,

they toured the field for the rest of the afternoon,

looking up,

a A380 I think it is coming in to land,

the field was starting to fill up now,

Steve and myself went back to my favorite stall for a few coffees for us,

and the girls,

all of that walking took it's toll!

unknown to me the girls were up and about,

going to the stage,

where the shows had started,

with Filipino traditional dances,

the girls were back and the field was getting full,

we started on our way home,

a quick pose on the way,

ice creams,

for Steve and Kai,

on to the tube station at Hounslow Central where we retraced our steps home,

arriving home a quick pose by the now completed pavement, only another 8 weeks to go until Beckenham Place Park has its own mini roundabout,

back past the snail mail box and home,

arriving home Diana made a short video of the food stalls and some of the dances at the festival, it was then for us feet up for a Poirot, three back to back as it happens, we normally watch Columbo on a Sunday afternoon/evening, but as we had not watched Poirot for some time we watched him instead, after which we were off to bed.
