Keeping To A Photographic Theme,

here is one photographic competition I have never heard of,

the world’s one and only Potato Photographer of the Year award, above the overall winner William Ropp, for the artwork entitled "Fish and Chips."

“There's something extremely wonderful and weird about this work. The amalgamation of vegetables and animals creates a strange portrait of the everyday food we consume. The fact that the image was taken on a polaroid camera with just a flashlight is of great credit to the photographer's skill.” Amy D’Agorne

the photographs can be of anything, but must have a potato theme,

like this one by Steve Caplin, which he says was made with Potatoshop. It came in fifth in the competition, not all those that placed in the final results are artworks,

there are plenty of straightforward but lovely photos of potatoes in one form or another, this one from johnglover titled Hands Holding New Potatoes, so here is your challenge, flex your creative muscles and see how you can artistically capture the beauty of a potato, whether you’re drawn to the simplicity of a King Edward, the gentle curves of a Yukon Gold or the marvels of the Maris Piper, and enter the competition next year, I am really looking forward to some fish and chips now!
