Our Second Day In Hastings,

again I have split the days post into two parts,

yesterday was so bright and sunny, it was the summer glad rags on,

looking out of our window I could not help but notice this plant in flower,

I think it is some type of agave,

the flower spike must be 20 feet or so tall,

with these yellow flowers opening on it,

we made our way towards the cable car,

passing I am guessing more agaves,

in flower and seeding,

all along this part of the seafront there were flower beds,

unfortunally the weather was not kind to us today, grey and cloudy,

but still bright enough,

for a couple of poses,

now that is what I call a big truck!

breakfast!

a cheese and ham panini for Diana, a bacon sandwich for myself,

we arrived at the steps to the funicular just as it opened,

looking back towards the net buildings,

tickets bought, I got the OAP rate, (old aged pensioner),

all set,

it looked a long way up,

as we were going up,

the other car was coming down,

photograph time!

in no time at all we were at the top,

so a few poses,

were the order of the day,

a not very sunny Hastings,

but it was all A OK,

I had to take a panorama of the town,

we started up the steps,

Diana had spotted it first,

an ice cream van, I mentioned to Diana it must have been a hell of a struggle getting it up here in the funicular railway, it took a few moments! we decided on an ice cream on the way down,

we left the van in the distance as we walked up the hill, it was at this point with the cold wind blowing, we decided a jacket would have been a great idea,

we even had a few blackberries,

looking out to sea, unfortunally there was nowhere where you could get a view of the sea as the bushes along the clifftop were so high,

being early we almost had the hilltop to ourselves,

so for Diana,

it was a few jumps of joy, to the left,

and to the right,

having reached the top, we made our way back down,

the ice cream van in the distance,

just there,

no queues,

first one,

then two to go,

with chocolate of course,

thankfully it was not so windy here,

I was intrigued by the sign, the second from the bottom, no swimming, the nearest place to swim here is the sea!

we had to finish our ice creams before getting into the cable car,

even from up here we could hear the toot-toot of the steam train,

all set to descend,

a last look from up here at the town,

I noticed this lily which looked out of place up here, just out of reach so I could not move the blade of grass in front of it, I wonder who and why someone brought the plant up here and planted it?

down we go,

I could not help but think if anything did go wrong,

how effective the buffers would be when the car reached the bottom?

we made our way back towards town,

passing the fishing huts,

and pool,

it took Diana a few moments to get it,

although it was grey skies,

the sun made an occasional appearance,

and here we were at the 99 bus stop, we are going to spend the afternoon a few miles down the coast in Bexhill, if you want to see more of our day please click the 'Older Posts' button on the bottom right of the page.
