Diana Was Off To Work,

I was off to the bus stop,

a couple of gardens on the way were putting on a good show, cherry blossom,

and magnolias,

I went to Kingfisheries in Croydon Road, Beckenham for some RO water for the aquarium,

in the evening a read and a sherry,

a starter of chicken liver pate,

and a red wine,

followed by a beef stroganoff,

'Cheers!',

after some grapes I rounded off the meal with a spiced rum, or three, just before 10.00 Diana called so off to the bus stop and back home in time for a New Tricks, then for us we were off to bed.

RO water purification units are very common in US residential homes. The majority of cities have approved tap drinking water delivered by city water departments. We receive an annual water test summary that does show purification and contamination levels and averages usually show safe drinking water properties. It is all in the averages and some older cities are suspect of being out of compliance mainly due to old lead piping and poor maintenance practices over the years. We have had a few cities with major water contamination problems (Flint, Michigan as an example) so many citizens do not trust their water purity. There is a human error factor as well because most water treatment plants are outdated and require manual daily adjustments of treatment chemicals to maintain water quality. So what happens when water personnel go on vacation and replaced by temporary personnel?
Many do not trust the system to have pure water 100% of the time so as an insurance safeguard they install RO units underneath their kitchen sink. These have ten liter holding tanks and produce plenty of water for cooking and drinking. Many approved units sell for around $200 and by changing out pre-filters twice per year is a very cheap and safe source of drinking water. Many pack this water when they leave their homes so they don’t need to buy and use disposable plastic bottles. Others here do not have RO units and spend a small fortune annually on bottled water. Pepsi and coke companies have become main filtered bottled water suppliers and many have become dependent on their product. This practice has ended up filling our oceans and landfills with billions of one use plastic bottles. It would be great if building codes here required a RO system be placed in every home built along with benefits and operating instructions. Over time this would reduce the demand and dependence on plastic one use water bottles. As long as the major soft drink companies hold large market share in bottled water this will not happen. Sad that our companies are so greedy that they are knowingly continue to ruin our oceans and fill our landfills with non decomposing bottles. So We really love RO as a potential solution to many issues.

Dear John and Alley, in the UK we do not have a problem with the water supplies and companies, I do not know any where in the UK where it is not safe to dink tap water, the only reason I use RO water is to cut down on minerals in the water that encourage algae to grow, going back to drinking water I can not believe the number of muppets that there are in the UK, who use single use bottled water when tap water is perfectly safe, regarding drinking water common sense it appears is not that common! best regards, Stan and Diana.
